Key West??

hey everyone,

my dh and i are leaving for a cruise on friday and we need some recommendations on what to to. we are doing an excursion at our other port (cozumel) so we'd like to do key west on our own...

any recommendations?? places to eat, things to see???

You can go to Hemimgway's house for a tour...just walking on Duval street is pretty cool...stores, bars, restaurants.
Also sunset at Mallory Square is a lot of fun.

As for food - if you are there for breakfast...Camille's for the Godiva French Toast which was probably the best thing I've ever eaten in my life!

Also, we like Irish Kevin's as a fun bar to hang out in.

Duvall and Mallory Square will keep you busy (at the east? end of Duval - there are some great art galleries if you are looking for a nice piece). Friends we went with went SCUBA diving - but that's their thing.


If you want real Caribbean/Key West cuisine - I would go to Kelly's Caribbean Bar and Grill (as in Kelly McGillis) it's fantastic, local cuisine. Stay far, far away from Jimmy Buffets. My friend is a big fan and she dragged us there - and even she was severly disappointed.

I would just spend the day on Duval Street. From there you can shop, rent jet skiis, visit bars/restaurants (Irish Kevin's is a favorite of mine). Mallory Square is also a lot of fun.
