Looking for a Social Studies job

Hi Ladies,

I figured I'd put this out there. Some of you might remember me from LIW a hundred years ago (same name. ) I just finished student teaching for social studies, 7-12 so I am on the hunt for a job. Right now I am concentrating on the island but if there is an opening in the city for September I would definitely consider it. I am in South Lindenhurst but might be moving further west anyway.

I would appreciate any connections anyone could provide. If someone needs to know more about my background, please feel free to ask me anything.

DH had no problems getting a job in NYC. he has been teaching for 5 years and is still trying to get out on the island.

start looking in January and February. this is when districts post for positions they know will be open for september. most people have indicated their intention to retire by this point. all the good districts post in the new york times. check out their classifieds. new ones are posted every sunday. also, check the BOCES websites (there are different ones for nassau and suffolk). also, upload your resume on olasjobs.org a lot of districts use this now and saves you some time. i got a few interviews from this site.

my hubby has the same degree and graduated last Dec. He has been a perm sub now for less then a year!! good luck I know the market is tough.
