How many of you have more than 1 job?

i'm sure this has been done before--but i'm curious. DH and i do okay...we pay our bills....but really its paycheck to paycheck these days. i'm tired of hanging on until payday---so i'm thinking its time for a 2nd job. i waited tables for years---and its quick money once you get into the swing of things.

DH is not very happy about the idea--but heck...he can't get a 2nd job without approval from his current job. and it makes more sense for me since i work 9-5 mon-fri. i can wait tables at nite and wknds.

so i'm curious...since LI and NYC are expensive places to live...how many of you out there have more than 1 job?

I no longer do, but did for a few yrs. I worked in a gym until DH was injured. For a long time, that extra money paid my car loan & insurance. I no longer have the car expense, but things are starting to get tight again and I've been considering a 2nd job. I hate the idea, but it's probably inevitable.

i own my own business with my sister, im a REA, and i have a sideline business on my own doing freight inspections for a company based out of ohio.

the long and short of it is that the business i own and being a REA dont take up 8 hours of my day. thats why i filled in my time with another job.

im not someone who liikes to sit around and do nothing. i have to always be moving around and i dont really like to sit in one spot for too long (thats why i cant work 9-5 lol).

so all 3 keep me well funded. however, i dont necessarily HAVE to do them. i think i'll actually be giving up the 3rd one soon.

ETA: i'll post when i give up the 3rd one cause i know alot of girls on here will want to do it. its great extra money for someone with a flex schedule.

ugh--i HATE when things get moved. THIS IS NOT CAREER!!!!!!!!! i was just asking the general consensus about this. i'm not looking for career advice-- i just wanted to know a # of ppl with 2nd jobs!!!!!!

I worked 2 jobs last year. I worked FT during the day and PT in the evening a few nights a week and Sat. AMs
It was great having 2 paychecks come in.
Over the summer, I also worked 2 PT jobs. I was a camp director in the AM and did a sideline job as well...See Alnem's post..I worked the same job..Easy job, good money. Had to give it up though, because I am a mom and getting a sitter at all different times was hard.

Anyway, right now I am a FT SAHM and am looking for a PT evening job with a set schedule. I kind of miss bringing in some sort of pay.

I would love to wait tables, but, Ive never done it and Im sure you have to have experience.

DH and I have worked 2 jobs forever. It's hard to give up the extra income and we've gotten used to it.

Having enough time together was a non-negotiable for DH and I. We moved off LI so that neither of us would have to work 2 jobs.

That will be especially important to me once we have kids.

I have a F/T job right now (and I am looking elsewhere!) and I also carry 3 cases per diem that I get paid a certain amount for each month. I basically have to see them once a month and the rate doesn't change regardless of how much I see them. It's a pretty good deal for me because they are pretty stable so it's mostly just paperwork that is not too extensive that I need to do.

we each have 1 job

and we both sell on ebay- to the point were is a business

and ocassiob DH will work as a bouncer at a bar or club- but that is more for fun then $$$- he did that every summer for 8 years and loved it

i have one job, but its my own business ... and its a retail store ... and its in the wedding/party industry ... so there are times i'm working 70+ hours in a week, a normal work week is mon-sat about 50 hours total.

dh also has 1 job, with regular hours ... but he plays poker online for a little bit of extra spending money. its not much, but it does help offset his golf / football sunday habit, so i'm all for it. its also helped pay for unexpected bills that have come up.

I 'technically' have 3. I own my own hand-painting business. I do lia sophia jewelry parties more to pay my own expense of buying jewelry as well as just for extra spending money.
My most important and time consuming job is that I take care of my grandma while my mom's at work. All 3 of them are less stressful than my last job which required over an hour commute each way and working in downtown Manhattan. I did it for almost 7 years and it was fun but I was so done with it. That's when DH and I moved back out to eastern LI and couldn't be happier. With the exception of craft fairs and actual jewelry parties I never leave my block - my mom/grandma live next door!

i have 1 job but have been considering getting a second for a while now. everything is so expensive here!

DH umpires spring through fall. it pays great, is good exercise and he loves it.

I'm the one that works 3 jobs. You already know this mannnn. It's so nice to have extra money coming in and all cash ontop of that.

I say do it. He can hang out with adam while we work lol
