Is this a good price?

DH and I wanted to go to FL this spring sometime to visit family that lives on the gulf cost - about an hour south of Tampa Bay.

I looked at SouthWest and saw $99 one way flights for us.

Is that good, par, or expensive to travel to FL?

We'd be flying into Tampa Bay.

Would JetBlue be cheaper?

I would check Jet Blue - they sometimes have slightly better fares. Consider the time & cost of getting to JFK vs Southwest. Also check American & Delta if you are willing to go to JFK - they are sometimes less expensive.

I just booked my mother a ticket from Tampa to LaGuardia next month and it came out to $214 r/t (her return date is President's day which was a bit higher then her departure flight.)

I think it is a very good price.

Sometimes you can find them even cheaper too. But it depends on when you go.
We just booked to Orlando - $69
and from Ft Myers to LI - $69

I think Southwest are usually the cheapest.

PS. I've never flown SouthWest. DH has, but I haven't.

I just paid $500 round trip for 3 on Contintental from Newark to Orlando.

If you don't mind the way they do the seating, you don't get an assigned seat, you need to log on 24 hours before to get a letter A, B, C, of how you would board, it is free seating once you are on board. It shouldn't be a big problem since you don't have kids, etc. to make sure everyone is together if you are not in the A group.

With that said, it is a good price, even if Jet Blue is a few $$ cheaper, remember the travel and the cost to park or get car service to the airport.

Southwest is so much easier to get to and cheaper to park at, and usually quicker to get through TSA.

i think that's a good price. sometimes the fares go a little lower than $99 with southwest but they may also go up! i just booked a flight to West Palm and paid $500 for 2 round trip tickets. JetBlue was a little cheaper but when you factor in parking (i can easily get a ride to islip) and travel time, i would rather pay a little more for the convenience. i've flown Southwest before and it was fine.

FYI, i purchased a discounted travel voucher for southwest on ebay to save $ on the flight. it was very easy, the seller emailed me the info when auction ended and i was able to save $30. definitely check out ebay before you book the flight.

even if southwest is $99 and jet blue is $69, it will be easier to fly out of Macarthur for you than JFK.

I think you can get better prices, but it depends on the time of year too.

I think it's a good price for the springtime - you probably could get a lower price if you travelled at a different time of the year.

The price for Jetblue will probably be similar but, it's worth checking it out.

I also like to do a search on Expedia and check the major airlines to see what their prices are as well - on routes serviced by Jetblue and Southwest, they tend to have competitive prices (sometimes even lower).
