I wanted to introduce myself. I have recently found out that I could not conceive naturally and my two option are IVF and adpotion.
Can anyone please let me know the first step in looking into adoption? What country did you go through? How long did take.
Thanks in adavance.

Good luck to you! I have been looking into a Common Wealth. I really want to adopt from Guatelmala, but they said it is getting more and more difficult to adopt from there. You should check out their site. It has a lot of great information about a variety of countries.

Re: New to this board
I'm sorry to hear you are having problems conceiving, but I'm glad to hear you're considering adoption as an option to grow your family. DH & I also grappled with the decision of whether to proceed with IVF or go the adoption route and we chose the latter. It's a very personal decision, but one that I do not regret. I adopted from Korea. While I was going through the process, Korea changed its international adoption rules and made it a much harder process. They are trying to promote domestic adoptions and have a lot of rules in place to ensure that everything that could be done to place the children domestically was done. International adoption in general is getting much harder, and the wait times are getting to be MUCH longer. So, if you think International adoption is for you, I would recommend getting started now. Do your research (online works) to see which program fits your needs the best. You also have to see if the country's requirements are a match for you. Make sure you go through a reputable agency. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide to do.
