Re: Palm Springs, CA

DH and I went for the weekend a few years ago. I want to say we stayed in a La Quinta, but I'm not 100% sure... it was within walking distance of the downtown area. We walked around and shopped, had date shakes (they grow lots of dates locally), went on a jeep tour of the San Andreas fault, and took the tram up Mt. San Jacinto to play in the snow (it was November when we went). If we'd had longer to stay, I know there's golf courses and spas out there too.

Re: Palm Springs, CA

Thank you!

Is there enough to do downtown that you don't need a car rental? We're considering - if we decide to go to PS - renting a car for a day trip to the Joshua Tree but otherwise I'd like to just veg and hit up some spas (I will be 24wks pregnant at the time of the trip).

Re: Palm Springs, CA

Eh... there's a moderate amount of shops and things, but it's not a very big city with tons to do. I'd kinda like to have a car if it was possible. Driving around wasn't bad at all - not a ton of traffic or anything - and we had to drive when we went to do anything (to get to the meeting point for the jeep tour, to get to the tram up the mountain, anytime we wanted to eat somewhere not right on the main drag, etc.).

But being pg, you probably have different activities in mind and you might find you don't need a car. You can always play it by ear and rent one after the fact if you feel you really need it. Just be sure to find a spa very close to your hotel! Chat Icon
