20 week sono
Is the 20 week sono the same as the level ll where they measure the folds in the baby's neck?

Re: 20 week sono
the fold measurement aka ultrascreen is done early on, i forget the exact week range and size requirement, but i think mine was around 10 weeks.
i have yet to get to the 20, so i don't know all the details...

Re: 20 week sono
The ultrascreen is done ideally between 11 weeks and 13 weeks.

Re: 20 week sono
From what I've been told by my dr, a level II sono and the 20 week "big" sono are different. He explained the difference, but honestly, I wasn't listening very well since he was explaining it while i was listening to the baby's heartbeat. I am not getting a level II, but my "big" sono which checks the baby's organ's, spinal cord, sex, etc is on this Monday where I will be 19w3d. I do believe though that the level II does check skin folds, but I do believe they only check that in conjuction with other tests, like AFP, etc.
If I'm off the mark, please excuse

The 20 week sono is usually called a Level II, and they check everything about the baby. They look at the anatomy, measure all the bones and such and can tell you the sex, if you want to know. Most doctors have the women have them, it can be the first real look at the bay in a detailed sense.
The sono commonly done now between 11 and 13 weeks is part of the Ultrascreen. THis sono will measure the thickness of the neck (nuchal transluceny) which will give an indication of the markers for Down I believe.
