weight gain - How much should I?.....

HELP!!! I am so upset I just came from the doctor and I cant believe how much weight I am gaining. I feel SOOO gross. At 29 1/2 weeks I gained 30 pounds. In my eyes its just way to much. I am now putting myself on a diet for the last 9 weeks. Maybe I will only then gain like 10 pounds at the most. I am having a c-section so I dont have as long to go. No more candy, pizza, pasta or cookies for the next 2 months

Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do so I dont gain to much more weight? Also How much have you gained if you dont mind

Re: weight gain

I am 32 weeks pregnant and I am on bedrest and have been on bedrest since 20 weeks.. I was so nervous I was going to pack on the pounds because I can only get up to go to the bathroom/shower/ and go to the drs appt. I have gained about 20 lbs I eat lots of salad with grilled chicken, veggies, fruits, oatmeal.. I eat 5-7 small meals/snacks so I don't pick on junk food... I still eat pizza but I make sure it has veggies and grilled chicken on it ( I don't feel as guilty) If I crave something bad I get a small portion of it (don't deny the baby lol...), I don't keep junkfood in the house or else I would eat it all day long.. I try to keep healthy snacks so I don't feel guilty eating it... I have 1-2 glasses of juice or sweet drink a day, then I drink water the rest of the day....

Chat Icon Chat Icon for you..
I am 34 weeks and have dealt with weight being an issue the entire pregnancy. To date I have gained about 31 lbs and it really bothers me. Everyone tells me that I only put on weight in my belly, as I look exactly the same as before PG except for this massive belly, but the actual number really bothers me. And there is still some more to go as the baby starts to put on weight now. When I talk about it to my family and DH they think I am crazy but it still upsets me. I totally understand where you are coming from but we have to understand that this is a part of being PG and I think that even if you eat sooo healthy you are just destined to gain a certain amount of weight.

I totally agree! I am 19 weeks pg and already gained 16-19 lbs or so. I didn't eat the best during my m/s in the 1st trimester, but I def curbed my appetite and still gained weight. I honestly doesn't think it matters, I think it's up to genetics.

Re: weight gain - How much should I?.....

don't be worried about how much you gain unless the dr says something to you. I've only gained 18, then I lost 1 lb last week so I'm up 17 lbs and I'm 36 weeks. I've done nothing but eat garbage and junk food with the healthy stuff mixed in. I just don't eat for two really....I only seem to be able to eat the same amount as I did pre PG. I'm hoping it comes off easily since we have a wedding 3 months after our due date AND I have major issues with my weight--I'm always concerned about how I look and how DH sees me.

yes, but I am not eating much either except this week I had a cookie craving - I gained 9 pounds in 3 weeks it totally freaked me out. I am really not even eating in between meals
