Direct care counselors in group homes for the disabled ususally only need a HS diploma. Check out ighl.org they have houses all over the island.

Yes, HS diploma is usually the minimum, and you can also advance if you are good.

yes but the hours are not the best. These facilities are open 24/7. and part timers would work the weekends. And the pay...not so good!

I dunno. Beggars often cannot be choosers.

When I used to work in these types of jobs, often it was easier to set your own schedule. It just depends.

ETA: When I used to work in a group home setting, we often utilized per diem employees during the day.

I don't want to sound rude because that's not my intention (I actually started a similar thread on here about a young mother trying to find a F/T job), but if you want/need to work, and you have children, you are going to often have to compromise on some things. Hours/money often being the top two. Not saying it's fair, or right ;). Money certainly is not everything though, and it's a ****** economy right now. There are a lot of people I know who have to work those kinds of jobs full-time.

I don't want to get into a debate, I was just giving a suggestion of the types of jobs I think would be good for a new mother to make a little extra money, get out of the house, and have flexibility.

I agree with the per diem hours if the agency has them. They could be flexible.

how about being a babysitter for someone who needs a few hrs. a week, maybe to do grocery shopping with out their kids, or to do mommy and me classes but have other children, or even from the time the kids get off the buss 3 or 4pm till mom and dad get home from work

craigslist usually has postings
