Chili lime shrimp

My friend gave me this recipe - it is really easy and DH loved it- when I made it I used a lot less butter than the recipe called for - so you can adjust it to your taste.

1 lb of shrimp peeled and cleaned
1 package of buffalo wing spice
5 tablespoons of unsalted butter
2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice (I used more lime juice and less butter)
2 tablespoons garlic minced
1/2 tablespoon red pepper flakes - I added more you can do it to taste if you want it hotter or more mild
1/4 cup of fresh cilantro chopped.

Peel and clean the shrimp and place them in a zip lock bag - dump in the full packet of buffalo wing spice and shake it well so all the shrimp are well coated.

In a frying pan - on medium heat melt the butter with the garlic and red pepper flakes. When the butter melts turn up the heat to med high - until the butter pops and sizzles - but don't burn the garlic or butter.

Drop in the shrimp and sautee it in the butter garlic and red pepper flakes. - It cooks very quickly - be careful not to over cook the shrimp.

When the shrimp are cooked -turn off the heat and move the pan to another burner - pour in the lime juice and cilantro and mix it well.

You can add a lime wedge and a little fresh cilantro on top when you serve it.

Re: Chili lime shrimp

that sounds really good.
Did you serve it with or over anything?
How much butter did you actually use and do you think you would be able to use the I cant believe its not butter instead?

Hmm not sure the exact amount I used I think it was maybe 2-3 - but I melted just enough to put the shrimp in - you could start small and just add what you need to sautee it in - you don't need that much - Not sure about the I can't believe its not butter - have you tried to cook with it before - if you have you probably could - but I have never tried to cook with it before so I am not sure.

You can serve it by itself with a veggie and something else - or over rice - if you don't make a lot of sauce I bet you could put it over a salad.

Honestly you just need enough butter to sautee the shrimp - if you want to have a lot of sauce you would need more - but the shrimp were very flavorful without too much sauce.
