Can you rec your shore exursions in ...
Tortola and St. Thomas with a 2 yr old.
I was thinking of doind the Coral World/Magen's Bay Beach in St.Thomas and then the Tortola Sightseeing/Cane Bay.
Any feedback?

In St. THomas Magen's Bay Beach is beautiful. I wish we could have stayed there the whole time. In Tortola we did another Beach with Caves. I can't remember the name I am sure I will think of it when I do I will edit my post. That was a nice beach to but I am not if you have a 2 year old there were a lot of boulders and rocks in the water when you snorkel.

I went on a cruise for my honeymoon that stopped at the same ports last May.
In St Thomas, you may just want to wing it. There will be tons of cabs and little buses when you get of the ship to take you anywhere. I would totally reccomend Megan;s bay with a small child. Its fairly shallow and very sheltered, but there are no water sports (jet skiing, parasailing, etc) besides snorkeling if other people you are with want to do those things. I have heard that Coral world isnt the greatest and that Coki beach, where coral world is, has a lot of people trying to sell you hair braiding, etc. They cant at Megans bay because its a park.
In Tortola, we went to the Baths on Virgin Gorda. It is the beach with all the caves. I would not reccomend it for a child becuase to get to the beach you have to take a mile long walk down a trail. To get from one beach to another you have to crawl through caves and stuff. The people we ate dinner with went the the beach club trip, they liked it a lot.

St. Thomas...take the boat ride to St. John (by fat the most beautiful Island I have ever been to) and do the snorkeling.

ok. Awesome!!!!! I am so excited!!! I just booked the Old San Juan Walking Tour for DH and I (my parents are going on the cruise and are going to watch Andrew for us) and then I booked Coral World and Magens Bay Beach.
Now I am still not sure about Tortola. Maybe we will just rent a car and take a tour ourselves. We shall see.

I'll be travling with a 3 year old next week to the same places so I'll let you know.
Right now we're going to the aquarium in St. Thomas and then to Saphire Beach. DH and I have been there before & can't wait to go back - more to do there than Meegan's Bay.
Tortola we're going to the Baths - cruiseline says its fine for dd.

They said it was fine for the Baths? Carnival and another site I go on said it was way to much for a child. There are too many rocks and the walk is very long. I really wanted to go there.
Where did you find the info that it is fine for DD?

I did that one on Royal Carribean & that's exactly what I was going to suggest.
Coral world is a small aquarium, ntot eh msot exciting oen I've ever seen, but perfect for a 2 year-old. Magen's bay is a gorgeous beach--very calm, warm water--not too deep. You could take him in with you.
When I went there was an open air bus ride between the 2, which is the only thing I'd be concerned abut. It was very hot & a little fast/bumpy/noisy.

I called Carnival direct. There was a symbol that excursion would be good for dd but wanted to make sure. Rep said it would be fine.
Might want to check cruisecritic too - good review site.

Strange Carnival is the one that told me it wasn't good for DS and cruisecritic said to def not go.
Oh well. We are going to swim with the dolphins instead

Trunk bay on St. John is great - adults can snorkle - it is a narrow but long beach - but the water is crystal clear and it isn't rough - I have often seen young kids in the shallow area. It is a short ferry ride and you have a nice view or St Thomas on the way over. I have seen lots of family there.

Just walked in the door from our cruise. Seems we went to some of the same places. I was on a Carnival Cruise but Royal was there with us.
San Juan did our own walk downtown - definitely wear sneakers because it's all uneven and the sidewalks are one person wide. Bring the camera - some of the night scenes are beautiful.
St. Thomas - Coral World is not great for the $. My DD got board (and she loves Atlantis) so we went over to Saphire and had a blast! Could not get her to come out of the water and snorkeling was incredible.
Tortola - left DD with family after all and did the Baths at Virgin Gorda. Good thing too! There is no way she would have been able to do the walking - but SOOOO glad we did.
