How do I chart?

I am all new to this. We have been trying without much planning or success for like 3 months. What do I do to get this going. My MIL is getting me the fertility book you recommened but I won't get it for 2 weeks. I am pretty sure I am ovulating next week. When should I start taking the tests or start taking temps. Please help me!!!

I am not an expert but I will try to help..

As far as the OPK tests.. you need to go to they store and buy them. Inside will be instructions (which depends on your cycle length) on when to start taking them. I buy the clear blue easy and my cycle is 31 days so I started testing on the CD14 according to the instructions (I had to buy more because I didn't O until CD21 so I never got a surge until my next pack)

As far as charting (which I know nothing about).. Here are some websites that might help.. I think you are supposed to start charting the day you get AF.. but I am pretty sure it couldn't hurt if you started now

Thanks! I got a OPK and I tested this morning and there was the reference line but no other line. What does that mean?

No 2nd line on the OPK means that your body isn't even starting to release the hormone needed to ovulate.
I would go a few months of charting and see what that looks like- those charts are how I knew I wasn't ovulating- even before we were TTC.
