What goes in your portfolio?
With my first semester of grad school under my belt I need to start assembling a portfolio of all my work. What do I put in it? Is it all my work from previous semesters?
Also what do I keep everything in? I big folder or a binder?
Also, Do I put things in it that are graded already or put in fresh copies that are unmarked!
I'm trying to stay as organized as possible! Thanks ladies!

Re: What goes in your portfolio?
this is what i have in my portfolio but everyone's is different
In a big 2inch binder (all papers in sheet protectors and i used dividers):
table of contents
Educational Philosophy Resume Letters of reccomendations Certfication Seminars Taken a Select few lesson plans with student work some unit plans i did as a group in my undergrad student teaching Video/analysis
and random misc stuff: more evaluations, conference notes, notes of meeetings, a trip slip etc..
and yes i would put in already graded work hope that helps

Re: What goes in your portfolio?
i don't know since i never had to do one... i had a binder that i threw together for interviews and that had letteres of recommendation, teaching evaluations, a few of my best lessons and samples of student work, educational philosophy. i probably interviewed about 20 times and i NEVER once was asked to show them my portfolio. they always went off my resume...
i am under the old guidelines and the portfolio seems to be one of the things teacher ed. programs do now, but when i interviewed heavily in the spring of 2004 for my now current job, no one asked for it.

mine is very similar.
also - if you won't have your actual certification with you (since NYS takes 15+ weeks to print them ) make sure you have copies of your test scores to prove you passed your required exams. every interview I went on, they asked for them.
