We got a 30% off postcard in the mail the other day, but it's not for the dates we're going. 
It's our first visit to WDW, so I imagine we wouldn't get a 40% off code.

Actually reading the Dis Boards, most repeat guests DON'T get the discount codes, so I was surprised that I did.

If you go into your account on the WDW website, there should be some options to check about getting mail I think. I've been getting emails from them forever, just none with codes!
I re-booked DD's 1st bday trip and the total was only $923 for a value with 2 adults, 1 child and an infant and 5 day tickets

I got a 40% code but can't use it - it was for room only and not for a package. But it ended on our date of arrival and unlike in past years (where you pay for the whole trip the price at arrival) they stopped doing that system so it wouldn't help us.

Try this...do a quote online for the dates you want and then do "save for later" and then maybe you'll get one? That's what I did..and the email said
"We're so excited to hear you're thinking about taking a Walt Disney World® Resort vacation"

You probably wouldn't get an email code instantly, just let the quote sit in your saved area for a while. I had a few in there for a while. I actually booked a trip a couple of weeks ago and cancelled and left my quotes in there. Then today I got the email.
That's rude that he laughed

What a jerk for laughing.
Ok - how I got my discount when I just went. I asked them to look under my name (married name), they said nothing. Then they looked under my maiden name and all of my old addresses - nothing.
I hung up and said - hey maybe it is under my DH's and sure enough there it was - we got like 40% off. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I am going to try that. It is soo expensive and we might call it off but if I can get this code, maybe we can still go.
