Help! I failed my ATS-P and my certification expires in a week!

OMG-- I don't know what to do! Has this happened to anyone here? I am totally freaking out!

I am sure your can file for an extension. Which one is the ATS-P again? Is that the video?

Yes it is the video. I tried to apply for an extension, but they gave a list of reasons for applying for an extension and failing the video apparently isn't one of them. I am so screwed.

I think they need proof-- the excuses are like you were out of the country, in the military, sick, maternity leave, etc..

I did and I am awaiting her call! I hope I can do something. This is the first thing I have done wrong, and I failed it on a technicality, not because of lack of ability. I have never even gotten a slightly negative observation, I got tenure, and have been teaching for five years in a tough district! I am going crazy!

Thank you! I spoke to my union president today and she said that this has never happened before (lucky me) in her knowledge, but that the union is behind me 100% and will do everything they can tohelp me. It just makes me so mad b/c they only look at something like 1 out of 1000 tapes and they happened to pick mine and I happened to fail! If you knew me, you would know how anal I am about everything-- this is the first thing that I have done badly in the teaching field!

I filed for an extension, JUST IN CASE, I had failed my video, it took almost a month to get the info back and it was exended for 2 years, thanksfully I passed my video and didn't need the extension but did you call BOCES? They helped me through the extension process but since it took me a long time to secure a position I wrote that in a letter to Albany.

I was lazy/forgot to apply for my permanant certification and when I realized and I applied - they backdated it to when the provisional expired - maybe they will do that for you too?

This happened to me last year AND they watched it! I got a did not meet requirements....I had like a 5 second break 10 minutes into it and I had to do it again....and had to pay $145 again

They do watch the videos. My colleague failed her video for lack of audio sound. She knew there was no sound when she sent it in too.

Can you speak to your principal's secretary? They are usually the go to person for certification issues.
