Administration License
Does anyone have their admininistration license? If so where did you go, how long did it take you, and was it really hard?
i have thought about going for this in the past but the time never seemed right, someone recently brought it up to me and has now put the bug in me so i want to do some research
TIA for any info or advice you can give

Re: Administration License
I have mine, got it summer of 06, through NYU. I'm doing my EdD through them and though this wasn't a part of the program my advisor worked with me to get me the certification. They do offer an MA program that provides you with the certification upon completion.
My husband completed the CITE program through the College of St. Rose this past summer. He got his SAS/SDA in 11 months - it wasn't hard so to speak, just a lot of time because the regulations for certification have changed and CITE wanted to get the students in under the old regs as opposed to the newer, more stringent ones.
I think that your admin. license in invaluable, especially in a profession where you get paid commensurate with your level of education. You never know where life will lead you, what doors will open for you, and if an opportunity will present itself as a school or district leader. And if that happens, it is best to have the appropriate certifications. At least that is how I view it!
Best of luck!

Re: Administration License
I am currently enrolled in the Educational leadership program at Stony Brook. This is only my second semester of classes but so far it is great. I have taken 2 classes online so far and am taking 3 more this semester.

Re: Administration License
I go to Mercy College because I work in the city. Also, It is not hard considering that you are in a teaching position. I use to teach and now I am a gudiance counselor and I thought it would be hard because I haven't been in the classroom in a while. Mostly everyone in my class are teachers but I work closely with my AP and it's not too bad. Anyway, I just started the program and it is interesting to know what goes on behind the scene as an administrator. GOOD LUCK!

Re: Administration License
I got mine a few years ago. It was a lot of work, especially completing my internship while working.

Re: Administration License
MrsPowers -- does Stony Brook offer something all online? I'm in Western Nassau so that wouldn't work for me to go out to Stony Brook... but I've heard their program is great

YES! It just started a couple of months ago! I was able to get in it. The online classes are great. Some people say they are more work but it works for me and my schedule. And it is more affordable IMO. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Administration License
MrsPowers, That's awesome! Do you have a link to the section on the site? That seems like it would be perfect for me...
Also, does anyone know anything about Touro's program? They're bringing it to our Teacher Center for $900/class....

As far as I know, you do not have to go to SB for anything.
I haven't done the mentoring/field work component yet because at the end of the Spring semester I will have only 15 credits but I have heard from others that it isn't bad.
I posted a link to the site on the previous post.

Re: Administration License
I also did mine through CITE...the internship took the most time, as well as giving up one day a weekend, but it wasn't so bad...
