I don't know if we got insurance or joined a union.

Hello, I'm an old LIWeddings gal who needs newlywed advice. It's a bit more complicated than then LIWeddings newlywed board.

I thought we were joining a PPO with Beech Street. I've got a packet of info here from the Association of Healthy Ideas and Resources (no kidding), Consolidated Workers of America Inc., and the National Alliance of Benefit Services Association. It all came in one envelope.

I got 4 cards in the envelope. The first set says my husband as the member name, my FIRST name ONLY as a member, and under benefits it says Limited Medical Expense Reimbursement. We're group 4111, CWA Members, apparently.

The second set is a "Health Savings Card". At the top, Insured Name: My Husband. At the bottom, in caps, "This is not insurance".

Is a PPO insurance? I always thought it was just a specific kind of insurance. Is it just the prescription part that's not insurance? Has anyone ever heard of any of these organizations?

Should I be very concerned that they give away a free vacation with a new membership?

I have beech street thru my company- and I never got anything like that

a PPO- is like an HMO I think?

I PPO is a type of plan in which you can choose your doctors and don't need referrals. It's also unlike an HMO in that you can go out of network

if you go to beechstreet.com you can find tons of doctors

I haven't had any major issues

they approved and paid for major surgey for my DH with in 2 months of us joining the plan

don't give up
