Vegas suggestions
DH and I are most likely taking a trip to Vegas in the next month or two... I am not sure yet where we are staying, but we will probably be there for 4-5 days. We do like to gamble but don't want to be doing it all day every day :) Here are some questions....
How is the weather in March/April? Warm enough for the pool?
What is there to see at each of the hotels? Could we spend the daytime just hotel hopping to take it all in?
Any shows worth seeing? I am thinking either Blue Man Group or Spamalot.
What other types of things are there to do/see?
What restaurants/buffets are must sees?
Thanks! We are excited!

Re: Vegas suggestions
Update... the hotels are between Monte Carlo (which is closed now from the fire), Treasure Island or comparable... I'm going to see what comparable includes but any thoughts on the above two?

Re: Vegas suggestions
I think DH recently stayed at TI during a business trip and it was fine.
I've been at the end of April and the temp & sun was okay for the pool but it happened to be during a very windy spell so I guess you never know.
We had dinner at Tao last time we were in LV and it was yummy!!

Re: Vegas suggestions
Bring good walking shoes!!!
I'm thinking March would still be kinda cold for the pool. April is probably better, but it'll really depend on the weather the week you're there. Might be chillier at night.
You can definitely spend a good day walking around hotel hopping and checking everything out. There's the pirate show at Treasure Island, the gondola rides at the Venetian as well as the shop area where everything's done up to look like Italy inside, there's a "volcano" eruption at the Mirage, the fountain show at the Bellagio, art galleries in a few of the hotels, the roller coaster at New York New York, rieds on top of the Stratosphere, at the Rio they do a "Carneval" celebration every hour or so I think, there's an Egyptian exhibit at the Luxor... lots to see!
Blue Man Group is great. We also saw Penn & Teller out there - funny, but pricey for what we thought of it.
If you can, make reservations to eat at the Stratosphere restaurant at sunset. It's a little fancy, but amazing food and views. Another fun place if you want to get a cab is the Oktoberfest restaurant (not on the strip, but not too far away) - they serve Bavarian food in a festhaus and have German music and alpenhorn demonstrations, beer mug holding competitions, etc. There are lots of great places to eat.
Besides the stuff on the strip, you can always do a tour leaving from your hotel - they have companies that do trips to the Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, etc. in case you find that you have an extra day and want to do something like that.

Re: Vegas suggestions
We went to Vegas last April. I would stay at TI or the Mirage. They are in great locations. Definately bring your walking shoes.

Re: Vegas suggestions
I've stayed at both Monte Carlo and TI and they were both great. I have been to Vegas twice during April and both times it was HOT...definitely pool weather! You should get a book about Vegas from a bookstore....it'll outline everything there is to do in each hotel. I highly recommend going to see Mystere at TI....great show and worth the money IMO!

DH stayed at treasure island for a biz trip. it was fine, but nothing great at all he said.
i stayed at the bellagio for a biz trip which was super nice. the venetian is also nice but i'm not sure about pricing.
food wise, try sansei (sp?) and the french bakery in the bellagio. also the sushi place at ceasar's.

Re: Vegas suggestions
Hopefully I'll find out if there are other hotel options today! My parents love the Paris. Other than that I have no idea about anything!
