Bellmore area Chinese restaurants
As you may or may not know, my Daughter is from China. She is getting older (4 on March 1st) and I am starting to make a bigger deal out of her heritage and her culture. Tomorrow is Chinese New Year and we want to bring her out to dinner. We usually go to a sushi place in Mineola as DH loves shshi, but I really want to do Chinese food tomorrow. I am thinking Engs or Kwong Ming. Any one prefer one over the other or have a suggestion for another local place.

HANDS DOWN Kwong Ming.. you will NOT be disappointed!
On a side note, I think it's a beautiful thing that you are doing this and are incorporating her culture/traditions into her life!
You should make her a little Chinese New Year basket with coloring books and get her a stuffed animal for whatever her animal is for the year she was born!

Re: Bellmore area Chinese restaurants
thanks. I have not been to either one in a while and was not sure how they both were at this point.
I actually got the little red envelopes and the chocolate coins to put in them for her to give out at school. I printed out coloring pages for the kids to color and am bringing in one of her Chinese language song cd's so they can play it in class. I also am making cupcakes with red icing (not actually Chinese, but the kids love them.. lol).
We brought home a lot of things from China and we give her a gift from those things for Chinese New year and her "gotcha" day.

Both those places are good but I just ate at a better place. I think its called fortune wheel. Its in levittown in the old Nassau mall, next to BJ's. Its been there for years apparently. You know that food is good at a Chinese restaurant when the majority of people eating there are Chinese.

Fortune Wheel is very very good. We went there a few times - not like the other "American" chinese places around...
There is another new restaurant in Merrick next to Outback which I ate at too. Don't know the name, but really good food, esp. b/c Merrick doesn't have a "great" Chinese rest.

The Oreint in Bethpage across from Gruman's, Fortune Wheel, or I think it is called Hunan Palace on Sunrise Highway in Freeport, next to the old Social Security office. HTH
