Florida Panthers Goalie's throat slashed by skate
Did anyone here or see the footage on the Florida Panthers goalie whose carotid artery got slashed by a teammates' skate during the game aganinst the Sabres? It was awful! He must have been so scared and I give him so much credit for having the strength to skate over to the bench.

I just read this story on MSN. I couldn't believe he actually got up and walked towards the bench
Many that he will be OK.

I saw it on the NHL network last night. It was so scary. But it is a miracle that Zednick is still alive. His carotid artery was cut.

I just saw that clip on the News. Seriously, made me tear up, and get nauseous.  Just mnissed his jugular (sp?), and its amazing he had the strength to skate to the bench. The pool of blood on the ice

Yeah, it was horrible. 
He's not their goalie - he's a winger. If he was a goalie, he would have been wearing a neck protector.
The odd part of this event is that a similar incident occured in 1989, also against the Buffalo Sabres. Goalie Cline Malarchuk was slashed in the neck (before neck protection was mandatory for goalies - his incident was the one that changed the rule). The even weirder part is that the same trainer that saved Malarchuk's life... was the first one on the ice and saved Zednik.

Players really need to watch their skates coming up. A linesman got cut in the face badly last week during the ranger-flyer game. Those things are sharp and dangerous!

it happened when a player from there team got checked (hit) and is back legs went up in the air whiched caused the other guy to get cut...

yea...but if you saw the video jokinen's leg goes up in a really weird way. Of course its an accident, but it looked strange.

I saw the video on youtube and it is scary. That guy is so lucky to be alive, and I too give him credit for even being able to skate off the rink knowing he was hurt that badly. Read the paper this morning and they said he should make a full recovery. The NHL should have all the players wear neck guards.

It is unreal. They are so lucky that he is OK.
This actually happened to a student on LI who played for St. Mary's Hockey in the early 90's. He got the skate to the front of his neck and it damaged his vocal cords. He survived as well.

I saw this on the news and my jaw dropped and stayed that way for a good 2 minutes!
I was very glad to hear that he had surgery and was stable!
