really thirsty?

Does anyone have any ideas as to why I have been so thirsty the past few days? It started on sunday. I am drinking water like its going out of style. I am urinating a lot though, so I don't think its dehydration, and I usually drink water all throughout the day anyway, just not like this.
I had my fasting blood glucose levels checked last month and everything was fine.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Salt or electrolyte imbalance is the most likely culprit if the water is going right through you and you're still thirsty after drinking. Take in some salt or drink some gatorade -- see if that helps.

I am going through the same thing right now!! For the past two days...I drank 12 glasses of water (4 sport bottles by 2pm. I thought the same thing about the salt so I used some on my dinner (which I never do) and now my gums are hurting me... You fix one problem, you create another!

Ohhh I just saw something about this on that Mysterious Diagnosis show on the Health channel (I think that's the name of the show). The girl was constantly thirsty and nothing would quench it...after many tests and dr. visits she revealed that she was recently in a car accident and hit her head...apparently the hit affected her pituitary gland which in turn caused her insane thirst. OK I know that was probably of NO help...but I had to share just in case it can help...
