im starting a collection for my new hobbie so i need some help.

can you tell me what pinking shears are? and also. what kind of scissors would i need to have handy?

are fiskars scissors a good brand? i saw them at jo-anns fabric.but not sure what to buy..TIA!

my mom, who sews all the time, always uses pinkign shears so I would say that it would be good to buy oif you plan on making hems

I love gingher scissors, but they are a bit pricey. You can get them at just about any store like JoAnns or order them directly from the sight.
Fiskars are a really good investment to start off. They are less expensive and as long as you keep the paper and fabric ones apart they will last a long time.

Also don't forget a magnetic pin cushion not only great to use when pulling pins as you sew, but also if you drop them on the floor you can just run it over them and it picks them up!

Just to add:

If you buy more than one pair i.e. 1 for paper, 1 for fabric, mark them. You can use a permanent marker or wrap a piece of ribbon around the fabric one.
