This question is for the people that have TMJ.

Do you ever get flare ups where your entire head, neck, ears, and upper back hurt for weeks?

What do you do?

I know I grind my teeth at night. How do I stop??

You need to get a mouth guard. speak to your dentist

Also, there are exercises that you can do to help the muscles.

Definitely get a mouth guard. Do you have any other issues, like acid reflux or anything like that? Sometimes teeth grinding is based on an imbalance in the digestive system.

nope only TMJ......I dont have insurance right now....There isnt mouth guards I can just buy in the store are there?

I have TMJ and got a nightguard, but for some reason in the middle of the night while I was asleep I'd take it out and throw it across the room. It never did me any good and my dog found a new chew toy.

I then went and saw an ENT.When I saw him he asked if I grind during the day and I said no, but low and behold I was doing it sitting in the chair. He gave me a muscle relaxer that I take when it gets bad, meaning the whole side of my face feels paralyzed.

Now, I take alieve for a slight flare-up and resort to the muscle relaxer when its out of control and lasts longer then a day or so. I don't do anything at night.

I am alergic to almostevery over the counter pain reliever and can only take tylenol, which you may know does nothing for pain. I grind at night and I find myself grinding my teeth during the day also

Yes I had that all the time...I got a night guard from my dentist and it has made a world of difference.
btw, I clench my teeth at night.
