When did you tell your co-workers?

I'm just about 11 weeks and haven't told my co-workers yet. I told my boss 2 weeks ago because I'm senior management and my impending maternity leave will have to be announced to the board of directors next month and then take some planning to delegate my responsibilities while I'm out.....ANYWAY, I haven't told my co-workers yet. We only have 10 employees, 9 of them are women and we're all pretty close and I feel like it's getting harder to hide so I want to tell before they start suspecting and asking.

When did you all tell or plan to tell?

Re: When did you tell your co-workers?

With my last pregnancy, I told at 14 or 15 weeks. I was going to wait until 16 weeks but I got an unexpected promotion and wanted to be fair to my boss and to myself as to what I could realistically do before I went out on maternity leave.

Re: When did you tell your co-workers?

so funny bc this has been my big issue lately. i'm 11w3 days....and all i do is eat, and i am visibly getting rounder....so, i think they must think i'm just getting fatter!!! haha...anyway, my boss knows and her boss knows, but the 4 people that work for me don't know yet, and neither to my other coworkers. though, who knows they might suspect it. i've had to leave for a million doctors appts bc i'm high risk, so i think everyone either thinks i'm very sick, or they know something. to make a long story short (since i'm babbling), i decided i would tell them when i come back from vacation after the holidays on jan 3rd. this will put me at 13w1d, at which point i'll be done with the first trimester!! hope this helped in some way.....when are you due??

I am an independant contractor, so it was a little different for me. I told my "boss" at 10 weeks and my co-workers at 12 weeks.

Re: When did you tell your co-workers?

im a sahm now but when i did work i worked as a secretary in a doctors office. all my coworkers were female. i didnt even have to say a word, lol. i came into work one morning and i had terrible morning sickness. i was sitting at my desk not saying a word and sipping gingerale. needless to say a coworker came over to me and said, "oh my god, your pregnant!!". and i didnt want to lie and say no. so i told her. and of course you tell one person, word spreads. sorry to ramble. but my point is, you never know, some people may have already figured it out.Chat Icon

Re: When did you tell your co-workers?

With the exception of 2 co-workers that I am close with, I waited until 13-14 weeks.

9 weeks because of occupational hazards in my profession. A normal job is usually 13 weeks........

Re: When did you tell your co-workers?

I told them at about 7 weeks when m/s started interfering with my performance. My manager does not work on site with me, and since I conceived this one right after my m/c i had to go through testing and she pretty much found out right after I did.

I didn't tell my residents until about 13-14 weeks.

Re: When did you tell your co-workers?

I told my co-workers & boss at 12 weeks both times...except for one co-worker who I'm good friends with..

I was always tempted not to say anything to anyone to see who had enough guts to ask me, but never could do it.
