Dizzy when you stand up?
I often get dizzy and the room spins when I stand up. I looked it up on web MD and thought it might be Orthostatic hypotension.
I drink plenty of fluids a day so I don't think that is the cause. DH thinks I have poor circulation because I am cold ALL the time.
The only medication I'm on is birth control (Nuvaring) and I didn't see anything on the insert.
Anyone ever have this?
I got this off of the web MD website:
Orthostatic hypotension Orthostatic hypotension is a rapid and sudden decrease in blood pressure that occurs when a person changes position, such as rising from a sitting or lying position to standing, or when standing motionless in one position. Symptoms of orthostatic hypotension may include lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting (syncope).
When a person sits up or stands up, the body adjusts the way it pumps blood to maintain blood flow to the brain. If the blood flow changes occur too slowly after the person stands up, the blood flow to the brain may be temporarily reduced, causing the person to feel lightheaded or faint. Most people do not have orthostatic hypotension symptoms when they change position.
Orthostatic hypotension is often caused or made worse by dehydration. Other causes include diabetes, heart disease, and nervous system problems. Many medications cause orthostatic hypotension.
Treatment can involve adjusting medications and increasing fluid intake.

I have this too but I am also on a beta blocker and one of the things it does is lower blood pressure.

Never pass out and no am not anemic (I just got my yearly checkup a couple of months ago). I suppose I will mention this next time I go to the doctor.

Re: Dizzy when you stand up?
This used to happen to me all the time as a teenager to where I'd actually fall down... It was my iron.
Definitely run it by your doctor next time you see him/her.
