I rarely read novels or any fiction I don't know why.

If you're a non-fiction reader what are some of your favorite topics or books?

I'm always reading new gardening books
I love books on energy & oil
I just started reading "house lust" its pretty funny but so true so far.

Re: does anyone read only non-fiction?

I sometimes enjoy biographies and/or autobiographies. I haven't read one in a looooooong while, though. I think I will soon! I've read all sorts. Sometimes it will be a famous judge or lawyer because I am a lawyer and I find that interesting. Sometimes I want something that has nothing to do with law, and I will pick an actor or actress.

I do read novels but also read non-fiction. I like reading memoirs, esaays by authors I like (Anna Quindlen comes to mind) about environmental stuff (I am waiting to begin Garbage Land) and sometimes religion and psychology.

I am an engineer, so sometimes I read things related to how things work.

I love reading non-fiction books, mainly psych related case studies. A few that come to mind are:
Somebody Else's Kids
Running with Scissors
First Person Plural

And Dave Pelzer's 3-part series:
A Child Called "It"
The Lost Boy
A Man Named Dave

I enjoy reading true-crime books, esp by by Ann Rule and lately I always try and pick up an autobiography or biography when I'm at the library.

Same here...I don't think there's a book in the psych section I haven't read (Except Manic, its a new release)

However, I also read fiction.

DH reads almost all non fiction. The last novel he read was Angels and Demons.

I like history and biography.

The Power Broker is a LONG bio of Robert Moses that was really interesting in explaining the modern development of LI

Devil in the White City is sort of a true crime novel set in the 1892 World's Fair- it was terrific. The most suspenseful non fiction I've read.

I read mostly fiction, but I break it up with good stuff about the history of science and medicine. I'm also a big fan of Steven Hawking and Richard Feynman when I'm in the mood for over-my-head quantum physics.

That was pretty good. But his second book (Thunderstruck?) was not good at all.

I am liking Blink by Malcolm Gladwell about how people think, first impressions, etc.

And also Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales about the kinds of people who survive life-threatening circumstances and why.

I'd love it if you could give me some good reccomendations. I took a break from non-fiction for a while and want to get back into it.
