dh falls under the new certification, he is taking classes, but I hear you need 175 credits/hours every 5 years. Is this true?

Yes, 175 hours of professional development, basically over 5 years, which is 35 hours a year. Now, if he keeps very accurate records, this is easy to achieve, from what other teachers have told me. For instance, in our school, while the kids don't come to school for election day, teachers are required to do so. There is 6 hours right there. Also, I think faculty conferences count, so that could be another 10 hours right there.

Yes its true & I believe its 10% less if you are in a private school. However, I've been told things such as faculty mtgs even count & all the professional days, etc. at your school. There is a site to put the classes you take, if his school is not doing it for him...someone recently posted it on here.

You keep track yourself. However, not sure what that website it but you can upload all your time/workshops & then it is on that website for good through the state.

You cannot do 200 hours now & hold onto the extra for 5 years from now though.
