Hi kara..
Since you said you saw a faint line do you think its possible that you could still be pregnant?
I mean not to raise your hopes or anything but dont some woman bleed a little when it would of been time for there first period?
Maybe you should still re-test again just to make sure?

Thanks ladies...now I am wondering if I should try IUI before going straight to IVF.... my insurance does not cover IVF - well only $3,000, and the procedure costs over $16,000 - plus, maybe I should try the IUI before getting agressive? Opinions anyone?

Ask your doctor. Is there a reason that they were going straight to IVF? I don't see why you couldn't try a couple of months with IUI and maybe Clomid.

I think -- being 39, and having a short luteal phase, and FSH so high.... probably indicates that IUI will not do much for ME. I am getting info as we speak from Michelle, thank God for her knowledge!!!!
I think I just needed to be reassured that we are doing the right thing.

I just thought I would post on here...just to explain a bit about clomid/femara and fsh levels. Those meds work with the pituitary gland. They basically fool it...the pituitary gland than works extra hard to elevate the fsh hormone. IUIs can help but not necessarily with those meds when fsh is elevated. Injectibles would be a better choice because they don't work with the pituitary but straight with the ovary. However, if insurance doesn't cover the meds, sometimes going straight to IVF is more cost effective. It's such a hard decision, when insurance doesn't help.
