Feeling guilty...
As most of you know, my father died suddenly last Thursday night (march 6th). Since that night I have been staying with my mom. I have a sister and a brother, but being that I am the only one without children, I volunteered to stay at my parents house.
Tonight will be the first night my mom is staying alone. We are all going back to work tomorrow. My mom works only 4 hours a day, 7;30-11:30. As I was packing up all my things, I felt horrible. Then my mom was hugging me and thanking me for everything and she began to cry. I had a knot in my stomach and a lump in my throat on my way home even though we only live 10 minutes a way. I feel so guilty knowing she is home all alone.

I'm so sorry of the loss of your Father. I know your pain. You are a good Daughter for caring so much for your Mother. She is going to have some tuff times....Just be there with a hug and a good listening ear!

Re: Feeling guilty...
I understand exactly how you feel. My dad passed so quickly after his diagnosis that none of us even had time to get our heads around it. Then we he died I felt and still do such unfair sadness for my Mom and guilt that I could not be with her all the time, especially since she and my Dad had recently moved from NY to be near my family and children. I would try to go over a few nights a week after the kids were asleep, but its very hard feeling to deal with. And for my Mom nighttime is the hardest becasue the distractions of everyday are done. Just call her every night to break up her night, and go over as much as you can. Or invite her to stay with you and your DH for a few weeks. My mom did not want to do that since she only lives about 10 minutes away. Make dinner and invite her over. Ask her to go shopping with you one night. Go out for a drink. It is so so hard, and just being there or calling her at night will make a world of a difference.
