NYC Teachers Help!!!
So I'm pretty sure I'm getting fired...
Today I received an evaulation sheet that had unsatisfactories pretty much all checked down the line.
Along with comments in a bottom box. I was told to sign, and as I was reading it the back part of the paper had a box checked that read
"recommendation to DISCONTINUE probationary service" (something close to that)
To me a Unsatisfactory rating means fired, along with that comment above.
I didn't sign the paper because i didnt want to sign something if I didnt know what I was signing, and i wanted to speak with my uft rep beforehand, although she was absent today.
Can someone please clarify for me what this means???
This is my first year teaching as well
You can FM me or post on here, I'm pretty much freaking out

I think it was smart not to sign it without knowing what it meant..other than that, just plenty of

What about your Union Rep...they need to know ASAP if you are getting a U rating and you need to go and see the administration with your UFT rep present...they may be able to work something out that you can get an S and say you will leave at the end of the year

my school doesnt give the rating sheet out until the end of the year..def talk to your union rep before signing anything!!!

They have to have at least some documentation in order to give you a U rating...wheteher you are still probationary or not.
It is kind of weird that they are gib=ving you a document to sign in March...it usually comes in late May or early June.
Good work not signing anything! Get a hold of your UFT rep ASAP!!

So I'm not getting fired but mostly likely im getting removed from my school and placed elsewhere if the proposal is accepted by the superintendant.
While its not good, its not such a bad thing, as im obviously not happy there. its sort of a "not a right fit" and let me move on and continue to teach elsewhere kinda thing....
I'll know more once the paperwork gets processed.
I'll keep you guys posted.

that was my concern, apparently tho refusal to sign is like insubordination....and a whole other ugly battle, which i didnt want to start, cuz i just wanted to know what i was signing

I don't know about it the city but in my school district, if they are not having you return, they have to tell you 90 days before the last day of school which is right about now. (we call it black friday in our school) I think it was yesterday too in our school.
