Another Lovely RS experience :)

Well today marks the 2 week mark, from when I requested my medical records be mailed.

Yesterday I called to follow up and I was told that the FAX number that is listed on their website is not the FAX number I should have used lol Ummmm Why wasn't I informed of that when I first inquired about the process.

I don't have my medical records....of course. I was told they will be sending them in today's mail. Let's see :)

I also left a message for my doctor and they didn't reveal to me when she would be in. I asked if she would be in this week and was told "I don't think she...wait hold on" ...and then they asked for my home number.

Re: Another Lovely RS experience :)

Michelle,

If you see Dr. Bray I believe she is on vacation. She comes back around Jan 10th.

They are so unbelievably disorganized there.

Would you believe that I was trying to book an appt. for this coming Saturday and the woman at the front desk said, "OK, so you are coming on on January 7th?" And I said, "No, a week from today (Dec 24th), next Saturday!" and she said, "Exactly, January 7th."

OH MY FR!@#$ING G-D!!!!! Hello???? Next Saturday is Dec 31st!!!!

1. Can you count?

2. Don't you have a calendar in front of you when booking appts?

Seriously, my SpEd kids in my first period class wouldn't make such a mistake.

Oh, and they refuse to file my chart under my married name even though it's been changed with my insurance company. My company sent this year's card with my maiden name right after I got married and they won't issue another card until next year. The company said use the married name and that card/number. According to RSofNY they have to honor what's on the card even though my insurance company has changed my name on their records and I have not one other card or ID in my maiden name.

When I ask them to call they have called the last two times with results but then they leave a message saying "normal". No, what are my NUMBERS????? Because some of us have to check. If I am not ovilating at all, despite two rounds of Clomid at 100 mg then how can my numbers be normal????? Some thing is wrong and I am sick and tired of hearing "be patient" and it's PCOS when they have only tested my blood. Never any other tests... no tubes checked, etc.

A week ago one sonogram tech measured one of my follies at 10.5. I went back two days later and another tech said "Oh, nothing is large enough to measure?" . Well, what happend to the 10.5?" I got a non-chalant response, "Oh, sometimes two technicians can measure a bit differently?" WHAT? Is one using metric and the other weights and measurements from Roman times? W T F?

One sonogram technician had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for an "Antral Follicular Count Test". First, she looked at me as if I had six heads, asked what it was... um, hello, standard sonogram test to tell definitive ovarian reserves... but before I could answer she said, "WE don't do that here". How do you know if you do it or not if you don't know what it is? And just FYI, it's a more accurate indicator of ovarian reserves (how much fertile time a woman has) than bloodwork. Kinda pressing for those of us over 35!!

And then they wonder why I get an attitude with them.
All of the above happened on one day!!!

If I were you I would call them and tell them you will be in the office two business days from now to pick up your records. You will pick them up personally at a set time. Then don't leave until you get them.

Have you seen that sign on the front desk about 75 cents a page for the second copy of your records? I only saw that after I heard a few patients were leaving the practice. I bet the few posts on here a few weeks ago started an exodusChat Icon

Sorry about the rant. I'm also sorry about not posting my experience sooner but every time I went to post about every incident I got upset again. It is much more important that people know what is really going on. And if any posters want to question any of the above information or my experience you are welcome to accompany me on my next RE visitChat Icon

Re: Another Lovely RS experience :)

I have had so many problems in the past with records being forwarded I now pick up copies (75 cents each page) and bring them where they need to go myself.

I'm so sorry both of you are going through all this. This isn't something you need on top of everything else. Sending lots of hugs...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

FYI: If you go to a new practice, you can have them forward your HIPPA form and some times they have better luck at getting records because of professional courtesy.

Re: Another Lovely RS experience :)

Thank you Theresa for sharing your experience. I think it's important for us to do that.

I did get my medical records. It's amazing how if you call, and question things, you get things done asap. I even received a phone call from my doctor...I couldn't believe it !!! She didn't mention the fact that I haven't been there, in about a month...but that's beside the point. She went over some of my test results for immune testing the RPL panel. It's a series of blood tests that involve about 15 vials of blood. Some of the items came back positive but there was very little concern or medical intervention mentioned, just baby asprin which I am already taking.

I am going to a new RE from Cornell next week and I hope they are a bit more assertive with the medical intervention, that can be done. I am also considering seeing a reproductive immunologist.

I think it's very important if a couple is labeled "unexplained" that they get thorough immune testing done. There are different treatments out there for some of these issues. Dr. Alan Beer and even some doctors here in NY have a huge success rate when treating immune issues. A clinic here in NY that is known for doing so is SIRM (sher institute of reproductive medicine) and well as individual doctors.

I also wanted to add, that secondary infertility sometimes is caused by some of these issues, as well as implanatation issues and pregnancy loss.

Re: Another Lovely RS experience :)

UGh....They are getting so sloppy, and Its such a shame. I love the nurses, and a few of the drs but they just arent doing things "right" in my book.

I havent been posting much but you can see my my NEW consult post what things I found out they FAILED to share with me. One being I had a chemical PG last month. I wasnt planning on saying anything, its techincally not a PG, BUT had they indeed confirmed it rather then just say it was likly, I would have felt much better or more reaussured that DH's issues would not 100% hinder a PG. Instead I had to read my beta results on a copy of my Medical records.

As its been said, Its a shmae whats going on there. Some of those Drs are very good, they just do TOO much.
