How to make roast beef?
I bought a black angus top round roast. I would love to make roast beef for dinner, BUT I have no clue how to. Its a small roast- about 2 1/2 pounds.
What do I do? how long do i cook it for? at what temp.? in what type of pan? What do i season it with? Gravy?
I'm clueless, please help me?
TIA.

Re: How to make roast beef?
season the roast with salt and pepper and a little flour, and brown it on all sides in a frying pan with a little butter.
place it on top of a rack inside a roasting pan.
bake in the oven at 300..it depends on how you like your meat cooked, do you have a meat thermometer? for a roast that size you'll probably only need to cook it for around an hour.
when it's done-take the roast off the rack and place it on a platter and cover with foil, let it sit for at least 15 minutes before you slice it.
take the rack out of the roasting pan and place the pan on a burner on low/med heat. mix like 3/4 cup of floor with approx. 1/2 cup of water to make almost a paste, and then add it to the pan, and mix it with all the drippings, then add some water (I save the water that I boiled the potatoes in--I always make mashed potatoes with roast beef). you can also add a little red wine if you like...then add some pepper, and a capfull of gravy master. Let it cook off, it's start to reduce and thicken. Meanwhile, start cutting the roast, and you can add the drippings from cutting up the roast into the gravy. you don't want to undercook the gravy, it's better if you let it slowly cook down.
serve with mashed potatoes and a green veggie and biscuits!
