dilation and curettage (D&C) Anyone had one because
of heavy bleeding? I am not pregnant but the Dr. Suggested that I have one to stop the heavy bleeding. I have had my period 2X in the last month. Needless to say it has been extremely heavy and they told me to take iron pills/ and a birth control .
Now for the D&C what is the recovery time? (Oh yeah I forgot to mention ) We are going away this week The Dr. Said that the surgery takes about 10 mins. and the recovery time is very short. PLease help me TIA

Re: dilation and curettage (D&C) Anyone had one because
I've had it done 2x - once after a miscarriage and another for the same reason as you.
Both times I was just groggy and tired for the rest of the day from the anesthesia. I didn't have any heavy bleeding or much cramping afterwards.
The anticipation is worse than anything. It really was nothing. I was back to normal the day after. You might just want to take it easy for a couple of days (no lifting, etc.) so you don't bleed heavy or anything.
Good luck!

I had one last year. I had a polyp removed and a d&c. I felt fine a few hours later. I had light bleeding for a few days. No real pain.

I had one about 4 years ago, b/c of heavy bleeding. Recovery time was very short...I was only cramping for one day and I've had normal periods ever since.
