But how do you make grilled cheese for your DC's. I'm not a grilled cheese eater myself and never have been so I've never made it. I would like to try making it for DS. So how do you ladies make yours? and What kind of cheese and bread do you use?

Re: Please don't laugh at me for asking this...

Butter the bread and put it on a skillet/pan butter down. I put 2 slices of American cheese and then put the other slice of bread (butter up) in the pan. I flip when a little brown

Re: Please don't laugh at me for asking this...

I haven made it yet for my dd. But i love grilled cheese!

For my dd i would defiantly make differently than myself, just b/c the way i make for myself i tend to get it burnt a bit.

For my dd.. i would just toast bread slightly and then put cheese on but still keep slices seperate and then put back in toaster oven and let the cheese melt. Then put the two slices together.

whola.. grilled cheese, with no burns.

Re: Please don't laugh at me for asking this...

I make it two ways.

If you have a toaster oven the kind that's like an oven, not the pop up kind you can put it in there with some cheese and each slice of bread, when the cheese melts it's done, put it together.

Or butter or full fat mayo the bread, place on frying pan or griddle, put cheese on, when one side toasts, flip it over onto the other, press down to make it flat and toast the other and it's done.

I use american, muenster, mozz, slicing cheddar, provolone, swiss. My fav grilled cheese is provolone on rye bread

I do the same thing, sort of! I only use one slice of cheese for DS though and I sort of smoosh the sandwich down as it browns.

This is what I do and it works out fine. I still let it sit a minute or 2 before I cut it up and give it to DD.

My kids love grilled cheese. I put mayo on the bread and grill it in the frying pan. If I'm lazy, I'll just toast it in the toaster oven.

You don't toast the bread first.

Any kind of bread would work -- whatever he likes.

I do cheese on toast, toast bread in toaster until brown, put some butter on, then put your cheese on (I like mine grated) stick under the broiler for 2/3 minutes, wait until cheese isn't scaldingly hot so you don't have those horrible strips hanging down off of the roof of your mouth, and eat. Preferably with spaghetti-o's (Hoopy Hoops!)

I don't have kids but when I make my own I use whatever bread we have: rye, wheat, whole grain whatever. I put mayo on one side then 3 slices of sharp cheddar. Lay the other piece of bread down, and mayo that top. Cook on Med heat until brown and crispy

My kids don't have the most sophisticated palates, so I use American Cheese and 12 Grain Bread for them.

For me and Rob I will take a nice chunk of Artisan bread or bakery rye and stick it under the broiler with a slab or Swiss until bubbly.

I always serve it with soupChat Icon
