Literature Circles?
Teachers,
What do you call the student roles in Literature Circles? I know some teachers have different names for the roles. Which ones have you heard of?

I don't do them with my 2nd graders but I did them with my 6th gradres. I'm so far removed from 6th I can't remember but I do have my stuff at work. I'll check tomorrow for you.

I'm assuming you have THE Harvey Daniels book? Everything under the sun is in there. I've used them in the past, so if there's anything in particular you want to know, let me know, and I'll be happy to tell you about my experience with them.

Hey Ladies,
Thank you for the responses.
I have to write a 5-7 page paper on Literature Circles and a powerpoint.
I am trying to think of an outline about what I want to write...but I have never used LC's. I bought a book from the teachers store..adn looking at that.

We are doing Book Clubs...same idea. I made up the names myself.
We have:
Recorder
Time Keeper
Leader
Sound Monitor(makes sure the group doesn't get too loud)
Folder Monitor (each group has folder with papers for their group)
There are more or less depending on the size of the group....can't have anyone without a job
FM me if you need anything else

These are the jobs I have too.
We dont start Lit Circles until January. We are all GR before that.
I like them for the independence aspect of them.
On a side note, if you are doing a pp, did you know you can google your topic plus "ppt" to pull up tons of pps on your topic?
This might be a really obvious search trick, but I just learned it from one of the teachers in a class i was teaching!!!
