New here

never in my life did i ever think i would be posting on a multiples board.

I'll be 8 weeks on friday, is that too early to be telling family and friends that its twins?

any info on anything twin related would be much appreciated!

any questions i should ask the dr. at my next visit?
if they are in two different sacs, what does that mean?

First of all congratulations. Such a special blessing and you'll have two babies that will have a bond for life! Chat Icon

I have a book if you want - Twins, Pregnancy, Birth & the First Year of Life. I can send it to you. Also the books Ready or Not Here We Come and Ready or Not There They Go are great too.

I found out at 7 weeks that my twins were fraternal, my doctor said separate sacs and separate placentas (I think that was the reason). Separate of both, I think that's what that meant. Identicals can split early on and be in two different sacs, so I'm not positive in your case, they should know by now.

The one piece of advice I would say for your pregnancy is to take it easy. I know you already have your DD, so it will be hard. Everyone said that to me, but I didn't really take it seriously b/c I felt great - and then I was put on bed rest for 12 weeks.

Good luck, you'll be fine! Chat Icon

Congrats!!!! We told at 8 weeks because of the Dr's appointments and the fact that there was no way I could keep that in, I would bust at the seams.

Thanks everyone!
i'm still in shock and starting to feel very overwhelmed. DD will only be 20 months when they are born and with DH at sea for 3 weeks at a time, I'm don't quite know what to think.

Re: New here

Congrats. We found out at 8 weeks too and boy were we in a fog for a few weeks after that! We told everyone the day we found out. I could not keep it in (it was hard enought the 3 weeks prior that i knew i was pregnant not telling anyone).

My boys were in seperate sacs as well, but shared a placenta. So they could be identical still. My doctor determined that at my 10 week appointment. Sometimes identicals have two seperate placentas so you will have to wait until after they are here to figure it out (this happened to IrishTracy).

Enjoy the pregnancy! It's so exciting!

Re: New here

Congrats! I'm pretty new to this board too (13 weeks with fraternal twins). I found out around 6 or 7 weeks and had told my closest friends and family because they knew we had gone thru IVF and everyone was eager to know "how many". I knew twins was a possibility but I don't think anything prepares you for the shock when the dr actually tells you there are two. I still have a hard time believing it.

I remember calling my husband and you could hear a pin drop after I said honey its twins! I said honey? you there? honey? Chat Icon
