Vacation Homes -

We live on LI and are currently toying with the idea of purchasing a vacation home.

We want an area that is secluded but has relatively easy access to a quaint/cute town. No more than $200k. Minimum 3 bedrooms. No more than 3 hours from Suffolk County Long Island.

Any suggestions for location?

I have friends that have a beautiful home in the Poconos!

There are plenty of areas in the poconos, on lakes and right near Rt 80....easy commute from Long island



In a few years, my DH and I are planning on getting a house there!

i agree with the poconos... or ocean city, NJ is a really nice area, too. its a "Dry" town, so no trashy bars,etc... very family friendly, great boardwalk, pretty close to AC, too...
ETA: if you want to look farther away, my parents have a vacation house on the OBX in north carolina... another great place, and if you are planning to rent it out they've been doing well with the rentals/rental income down there, too.

Another vote for the Poconos. Houses are really affordable and it's a year round destination. In the winter there's skiing and tubing. And then in the warmer months there are tons of lakes, hiking, water parks, white water rafting, etc...

Definately recommend PA. We have a place in the Pocono's & it is a nice weekend getaway. It is about 2.5 hours from Nassau County.
