Passport quest
I am leaving for Europe and will be back 7/20/08...my passport expires 12/28/08...
Someone told me that the new law is that the passport must be valid for 6 months after the date of return which would make it 1/20/09.
Do I need to renew my passport now? I was just going to wait until I come home.

I think you're fine. I've been all over the Dept of State's website & didn't see that requirement.
What you should do is check to see what your specific country requires in terms of visas, etc. It could be a country requirement rather than an across the board mandate.
Department of State's website - look for Entry/Exit requirements
