Re: what do you think about...
I have no problem with it. Especially because some women wait a while to have a second baby, and lots of new things come out. I am having a shower for my SIL and it's her second baby. But she had her daughter 8 yrs. ago.

Re: what do you think about...
OK, 8 years I understand, but 3? I don't know why I have a problem with this, but I find it strange that she registered again and is having a shower.

To each their own, I guess. I know some girls who did NOT want a shower, and family members pressured them to, or had one without them knowing. Everyone's situation is different, I guess.

Re: what do you think about...
My kids will only be 2 years apart, my first was a boy, my secocd is a girl. My mom wants to so a small afternoon lunch with my 2 sisters and SIL. Not a "shower" by any means, just family, some gifts and a nice lunch. I WILL NOT be registering again.

I think its OK if there is a big age gap between the kids. Like 5+ years.

Re: what do you think about...
my kids are only 20 months apart, so a second baby shower for me i found was a little silly. i think it depends on the years between babies.

Re: what do you think about...
Thanks for the opinions... I agree that over 5+ years a lot of things change as well if you are having a differnet sex baby.

Re: what do you think about...
Well it depends...I mean I can understand a big baby shower for your first but I think a smaller one for a second is ok. Like say if your first was a boy and your second is a girl then a small shower is ok, I mean you still need girlie stuff. But I wouldn't register again though...

Re: what do you think about...
Yeah I think it depens on the years difference between the first and the second if it's 8, 9, or 10 then I don't see anything wrong with another shower. If it's like 2 or 3 years in between then a small one is ok, if it's a different sex.

Re: what do you think about...
I agree with a small shower if it has been a long time and the baby is a different sex. It depends on the situation. My cousin had a 2nd baby shower with 80+ ppl and registered again. Although, it was a 5 year age difference in the kids I didn't agree with having such a big to do again. Especially, when she lives in a million dollar house and can afford to buy things for herself. I think a small shower with her immediate family/friends would have been more tasteful.

Re: what do you think about...
I am one of those people who don't think gender should play a part in deciding this. I also don't care the income level of the person having the baby. I hate when people use a shower as a way "to get what they need".
I think that after having a full-shower for a child, another full shower for a second is a bit much. I think celebrating the occasion with a small lunch or something is perfect. I mean, a new baby is being born and that should be totally celebrated. I just think that inviting your 3rd cousin who you never see or that friend of your mom's that you never met before is unnecessary.

Re: what do you think about...
I heard the idea for a "sprinkle" for a second child. To me, that is a cute idea. It's more a celebration of the baby than a gift-giving extravaganza. That is what I am putting on my SIL's shower invitations. Granted, there'll be all of 15 people invited to a luncheon at my house and she didn't register, but still, I think it's fun. She does not know she is getting this, and considering what a hard time she and her husband have had over the last two years(6 miscarriages ), I think it's perfectly fine to celebrate. So again, I guess my answer is the same, everyone's situation is different, as well as everyone's idea of what a shower is. A lot of people it means 50, 60+ people, but for a lot of other people, it's just the closest women to them celebrating.

Re: what do you think about...
Had a huge shower for my 1st born, my 2nd born was a small brunch will a few ladies from my family and my last pregnancy was a boy and we knew it wa s aboy so my Mom and girlfriends threw me a mid-size shower since I had only girl stuff andthe girls who hosted the 3rd one I only met 2 years ago so they were not part of my other showers. I truly did not want one, but my friends insisted! Plus, my Mom felt bad that my 3rd baby would of come into this world without a welcoming party.

I don't know what type/size of this shower will be, but it's interesting to hear what everyone thinks on the topic.

my sister is expecting. she had her first 4 1/2 years ago. My mom and I decided to have a small "brunch" for her just to get a couple of things that are now new.

Re: what do you think about...
Well for my sister's 1st baby shower it was a huge party, then for her 2nd we still wanted to give her one just not that big, so I invited just some close friends and family for a brunch to my house for her. She loved it!

Re: what do you think about...
I had a big shower with my son 6 yrs ago. Now, I am having another boy and I must say, I do feel funny about having another shower. I don't really want one. But, I am registering for some things because I know family members will want to buy the baby things and I want to make sure that we get what we want, instead of having to go back to the stores to exchange/return.
