I Know It's Not Quite The Same...
as losing a person close to you and I know everyone on here has been through worse, but I'm so heartbroken.
My almost 4 year old cat died suddenly 2 days ago. I'm so distraught. I've barely eaten anything since I found him and I have an extremely hard time sleeping.
I've lost quite a few friends "suddenly" over the years and I know that I'll move on eventually, but right now I'm just so upset. I rescued Leprichaun and his 2 sisters when they were just a few weeks old. He was the one out of the three that followed me everywhere. He had such a funny personality, I really felt like he was "someone" not just my cat.
All my friends and family have been supportive and loving. They keep telling me that if I hadn't found him he probably would have died 4 years ago out in the wild alone and unloved, but instead he had 4 wonderful happy years with me. He didn't suffer a long or painful death, he just went to sleep, knowing that he was unconditionally loved by me. But right now, that doesn't seem very comforting even thought I know it's true. He was just a kitten still, I feel like he and I got jipped out of time together. I thought I had another good 10 years with him.
I keep thinking I hear him around the house. I hear him jumping off things and yesterday I thought I felt him rub up against my leg in the kitchen. Out of the corner of my eye I think I see him. I feel like I'm going crazy.
I know over time I won't go into hysterics when I think about him and instead I'll be able to smile, but it's so hard right now. I haven't stopped crying since I found him like that.
Thanks for letting me vent here.

I totally understand and my heart feels for you. I lost my dog last year and it was so hard on me, still is. Have you tried a pet loss book? THat helped me some.

I still cry over my dog Molly who passed away in October. I don't know that I'll ever really get over it!
