Tall Tales

okay, i decided to do Tall Tales instead of short stories... i think the particular group i have would really get a kick out of them and it would tie in wth the Westward expansion we did in social studies.

I have a book with lots of tall tales in them and i will supplement, but does anyone have any ideas, websites, good activities, etc. if they've done this unit.

I have special ed. 5th graders.

Re: Tall Tales

I'm not sure of websites, but some books I think would be great are Gooney Bird Green by Lois Lowry. The "Olivia" books are probably too young for them, but they may be a nice introduction (especially "Olivia Saves the Circus").

What about showing clips from that movie "Big Fish" with Ewan McGregor? A lot of the concept of that movie was telling "tall tales."

HTH!
