What is going on with me?
So here is some history, I started working out a month ago. Started at 3 x a week and now I do 4 x a week with one hour of cardio each time then I switch back and forth every other day with light weights for arms and legs..everyday I incorporate crunches on that ball thing you can do crunches on...okay?! So, I have been eating really good. No carbs, no fried food, only cheat once a week, meaning bread and something yummy, but not too bad. I had my thyroid checked. It's fine.. I am not losing as much I think I should! I have lost inches, I can tell because of the way my clothes fit, however I get on the scale and it's not showing that I lost much.. I am so upset about this. I know, it might be because I am gaining muscle and that weighs more than fat, but I am doing so much cardio.. and light weights..trying not to bulk up.. What is wrong here??

Re: What is going on with me?
I promise...you are doing everything right! This is what happens with everyone who starts working out with weights. You will lose inches WAY before pounds.
My two cousins are personal trainers and they told me this a few years back when I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing. All of a sudden you will see a difference on the scale.
The bad part is cutting out carbs. Your body needs carbs! Especially if you are working out. The carbs will give you energy to workout longer and harder. Carbs are not the enemy....calories are. Watch your calorie and fat intake but eat those carbs!

Re: What is going on with me?
I agree-- you just have to stick with it, and one day you will weigh yourself, and there will be like 5 lbs gone or something.
Although we really need to see the scale drop each week as motivation- when we first start our programs, sometimes it takes a while to see the difference there.
Just keep at it-- and try on old clothes that maybe were a bit snug before as your motivation.

I could have written this practically word for word. I am trying to stay focused on the fact that my clothes are getting looser insted of the number on the scale. Also, I had bought a scale a couple of months ago that tells you your fat % and water %. In the past I would have been discouraged and given up but seeing my fat % go down has kept me motivated. Maybe you can get a scale like this so you can see that you are gaining muscle and losing fat.
