hello!
hi! i'm new over here from LIW, and i just wanted to introduce myself! my name is melissa, dh is luke. we got married june 25, 2005. i have a genetic disorder ( not as scary as it sounds) called turner syndrome. basically, i only have 1 x chromosome, and girls are supposed to have 2. this means i dont' have any ovaries, so i can't have my own children. so DH and i will have to adopt when the time comes. we are looking to go international (china or russia). i enjoyed reading all of your stories, and just wanted to get more info from you guys basically, anything you can tell me. how long does the adoption process take? how far ahead should we start the process? we would like to adopt before we're 30- are there age minimums for adoption from anywhere? how old are the babies usually when they come home to you? LOL like i said, basically anything you can tell me we're not looking to start the process for probably another 2 years, but figured it couldn't hurt to start getting some info thanks!!

Re: hello!
Welcome. I think most programs are about the same..if you do your paperwork timely, approx. 1 year. Gautmela would be longer since they are an independant adoption and the birth mother needs to go DNA testing before the adoption is final. Any questions you have, feel free to ask. Congrats on your wedding.

Re: hello!
Welcome, and good luck with your adoption!
China usually has an age minimum of 30 and the babies are about 10 months or a bit older when you bring them home.
For Russia, I believe you only have to be 25 and the babies are available under 18 months, but I believe they are usually a bit older.
For both programs, you usually have to be married for at least one year.
If having a very young baby is important to you, and you're willing to wait until you've been married for three years, would you consider Korea? You can get babies as young as 5 mos old from Korea.
Good Luck!

Re: hello!
Sandra, I received your FM and email and wrote you back .
ml110: The process is very expensive. It will probably cost you anywhere from $18,000 to $30,000 depending on where you adopt from.
Good Luck!
