Produce Recommendations
What places (besides the regular supermarkets) can you find the best produce, specifically in central Suffolk? I'm always wondering, because the stuff in the regular stores look terrible.

Nothing beats local farmers' markets!
The produce in grocery stores is flown in from wherever it's in season -- Chile, California, Spain, etc. By the time it gets to us it's hardly even fresh any more.

well, there's that huge farm market on sound ave in riverhead (far east!) forget its name...
Since it's not farmstand time yet (likely won't open until june), I say you should jump about to several supermarkets. I find if my regular shop doesn't have good looking stuff, I can usually go to the king kullen on 25A in setauket and get some really nice vine tomatoes, peppers, avocados....
other supermarkets are rather
 You can't go by chain name, I think it's an individual store sort of thing....

I get most of my fruit and fresh veggies from costco in holbrook, it's always really fresh and yummy.

Fairway usually has nice produce and they are fairly reasonably priced too!

I was there once when I was in the area and I was  at all the random assortment of groceries they carried. Unfortunately, Plainview is not so close to the Bellport area.
