Well, this was my grandma, not my mom, but..
"Remember, you're a Levy." (my maiden name) She always said that to remind us how we should act in public.
She also said, "when you marry into the Levys, you don't become a son in law or a daugther in law, you become a son or a daughter." My BIL said that in the toast at our wedding which made me so happy.

When I was a little girl I was afraid no boy would ever want to marry me. I used to whine about it all the time. My mom used to say to me "Kathleen, what do you want to get married for. Its stupid. Dumb." Of course, most of this was in jest because she wanted to make me feel better. I always wonder what she would think of me being married now.

My mom and Grandma always said "tell me who you hang with and I'll tell you who you are". Although it sounds better in spanish.
