Weighted hula hoop

I ordered a weighted hula hoop off ebay yesterday.

One of my friends has one and she swears by it. It's supposed to work your abs, butt, thighs, etc.

Anyone have one? Pros/cons? Does it really work?

Other than standing there hula-hooping, what else do you do with it?

Re: Weighted hula hoop

I have one that I haven't used in a while, but when I did use it, I lost inches off my waist. Did you buy one that is smooth in the inside or does it have grooves?

I bought one that's smooth on the inside. I did some research and found that most people complained of bruising with the grooved ones. Since my main reason for using it is to look better in a bikini, I figured the bruising wouldn't be good! Chat Icon

I just hope it firms up my abs because I hate doing sit-ups.

I don't know too much about it, and can't attest to how well it works since I haven't received it yet.

But based on my friend's recommendation, I ordered on off ebay. She said it's great, and fun. She does it while watching TV.

It looks like a regular hula hoop that we used when we were kids, but this one has a bit of weight to it. I think the one I ordered was 2 or 3 lbs. The weight is supposed to make it easier to use, and by working the hula hoop around your body, it "claims" to burn fat and lose inches off your waist.

Here's the link to the ebay item I bought: ebay

Re: Weighted hula hoop

I've used it in the gym during a class and it took a little while to get used to it but once I got it I really liked it! It's fun!

Re: Weighted hula hoop

I bought a weighted hola hoop a few years ago. I also bought the smooth one. The first time I used one at the gym no one wanred me and I had a HUGE black and blue. The one I have never gave me a bruise.

Do you use it a lot? Is it fun? Is it worth getting? I'm thinking of getting one now.

Re: Weighted hula hoop

I haven't used it in a long time, but would like to get back into it. When I did use it, I would put on music and hula for about 10 minutes in the backyard. My neighbors must think I am nuts.
