Trip to the city with little girls...
We are taking a group of little girls and and a bunch of female adults... about 6 women and 3 little girls (from PA) into the city to see a play called Princess Phoey. It is a play for little girls with only children between 9 and 17 in it. So it is going to be a realy girls day. We were deciding between dinner and lunch and thought... lunch because after the play the girls will be tired and cranky. So we called Alices Tea Cup and couldn't get a reservation and they said if we come at 11:30 with such a big group we prob. won't get seated.
So where can we go? In Chelsea? Or close to there? (but we would go somewhere further for a really cute or fun place) Something the little girls can eat, but the adults will enjoy. We are NOT going to the American Girls Cafe, it is too far and too for this trip. So I need something else. I really wanted to find a tea place BUT I don't know of any other besides Alices Tea Cup. TIA

How about Serendipity III? It is on 59th street (between 2nd and 3rd I believe?) but it is so much fun! I would call them though to ensure they can accommodate such a large group. Otherwise, I know a lot of the hotels have afternoon tea.

Just went to Chat N' Chew last night. It's on 16th Street near Union Square. It has home cooking and is kid friendly. I had the special crab cake and their home style mac n cheese. Very good. DH had fried chicken, which he gobbled up. To make it even better, I had a Hageen Daas Chocolate thick shake

It might be too far, but we love to go to Ellen's Stardust Diner. The milkshakes are too die for...and it's a fun place and all the waiters/waitresses sing broadway tunes It's at 51st & 7th.
