Would you go to DR in mid-october?

DH and I are thinking of going to Aruba in mid-october but we are really limited on flights (only Jet Blue goes direct and we want to use points). So, we are also considering the domincan republic but that is hurricane season. Do you think this is a really bad idea? It would probably be cheaper and more convenient. Neither of us have been to either island. Your thoughts?

Chances are slim that you would be there when a hurricane hit but it could happen. For me personally I will never go to the Caribbean during hurricane season. Was in Cancun when hurricane Wilma hit.

American flies direct. Not every day but most of the week. Not sure if that helps.

I have been to the Carribean probably 4-5 times during hurricane season, and have never gotten hit with one. Of course you're taking your chances, but it wouldn't stop me. I'm thinking of booking either Cancun or Jamaica in Sept. or Oct.

We went to the DR last Oct. for Columbus day. The trip sucked!!!!!!!! But the weather was perfect.

We went to the DR in april. The weather was okay. The trip was awful. If you can find someone else to go I suggest doing that. The weather IMO was not that wonderful to begin with and add hurricane season. Ehh I do believe we flew AA lines direct
