DOes anyone have any ideas what is "wrong" with my DH?
He was telling me yesterday that when he is out of the house (at work, his mom's etc) he is fine. When he is home he says his throat is sore and feels like he cannot clear his throat. As well, when he lays down to goto bed, it's worse and he starts coughing.
I have been living in this apartment for 5 years. DH moved in when we got married almost 2 years ago. We have a cat (but he's always been here) and he does not go into our room (at least not for long periods of time) but recently the cat has spent more time in there. Our DS is walking and we keep out door shut and close off kitchen--we let cat roam thru our room to get to his food/litter box in the kitchen (does that make ANY sense?)
Thoughts? Ideas?
Can a person develop an allergy to a pet over time?

yes! ive had my dog for 7 years. my son just 3 weeks ago was hospitalized for a wheezing attack. he had extensive allergy testing and he was off the charts allergic to dog dander. Our dog is now right around the block at my mils. my son has been a million times better since the dog left. so its entirely possible its the cat.

Yes. A person's body changes about every seven years. It is very possible that your DH has developed allergies to your cat. It could be something else too. Are you using a different detergent for cleaning clothes or the bedding? A new air freshener? Consider any possible changes first and they DH might want to consider getting an allergy scratch test done. He can take shots to help him feel better.

Nothing has changed. Same detergent. Same soaps. Only "new" thing is our one year old son!
I want him to goto the Dr, but that's like pulling teeth. We'll see. He won't say it's the cat, but I think it is.

it is totally possible - you can get rid of and develop new allergies I think it is every 10-15 years. I had a dog for 15 years and I got allergy testing a few times growing up as I got new allergies - about 8-10 years after having our dog I developed an allergy to them - luckily it was a mild one that didn't bother me enough to do anything about it.
Why doesn't he get tested - that is really the best way to rule it out.

It sounds a lot like acid reflux to me. My DH is going through this right now (the laying down is a sign) and just had a endoscopy for it today. FM me for more info if you'd like.

I was going to say acid reflux too. It would explain the getting worse as he lays down.

Could be mold, too. It hides in the walls, so you would never see it, and some people are more susceptible to it than others.
