Career change...
I've been thinking about a career change for a while now, I just can't seem to find something that is right for me. I have my degrees in teaching (masters), and I just don't think I am cut out for it. I've thought about being a nurse, but don't know if I could pass the math and science courses. Thought about being a counselor(mental health), but I would want my own practice and I know that can take years. My wants are something that is flexible, being your own boss sort of thing. To give you an idea of what I like...I like to cook, clean, decorate, read, help people.
I don't think I would work good in a business type situation like working with computers all day or anything like that.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to find what I am looking for? Thank you so much, I know this is an odd request, I am just so confused!

Re: Career change...
I've been a nanny. It was ok. I can't justify being a cleaning lady when I have so much schooling. lol.

I hope you weren't insulted with my suggestion- it just seemed to fit
and I always tell my DH how good my cleaning lady has it- she comes in when we are at work, I don't even leave her a list, she plays with my cats, cleans and takes her $100 and off to the next job

Oh no! Not at all! It just wouldn't be intellectually stimulating enough for me. I would be bored.

Re: Career change...
what about early intervention?
you might have to go back to school- but it's a growing field
and it can be very rewarding

If you like to read, how about being an editor for a book publisher or a magazine?

Re: Career change...
I was going to recommend speech therapy. Its a VERY broad field with opportunities for private practice.
I work in a public elementary school and love it. But you can work with all age groups and different areas (hospitals, nursing homes, public/private schools, rehab facilities, early intervention).
You do have to get a Masters degree and the program is grueling- although very rewarding.
